HKSOA/ICS Joint Seminar – Industry briefing on shipping regulations

Members would be pleased to note that the Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) would be visiting Hong Kong for the upcoming Hong Kong Maritime Week 2022. The Association has taken this opportunity to organise an event where the ICS will share with us the latest updates to the ever-changing regulatory landscape of the industry.

Place:     United Conference Centre, 10/F United Centre, Admiralty


Mr Simon Bennett, Deputy Secretary General of the ICS would share with us the latest updates on the following topics:


  • GHG emission reduction
    • Fund and Reward System as an IMO economic measure
    • Problems with the new IMO carbon intensity framework for existing ships
  • ICS' efforts in maintaining sustainability of global supply chain during Covid-19 pandemic
  • General shipping policy developments
  • Labour affairs issues
