ICS/ISF - in conjunction with the Round Table of international shipping associations - has developed a new website: www.shippingfacts.com 

The site has two main purposes:

. To be a general source of information, available at any time, principally to non-specialist policy makers, journalists and others such as students who require some quick information about shipping. However, it may also be of interest to specialists. 

. It will also form part of the industry's general response to any future serious casualties, with the website address being sent to journalists as a sign of the industry's willingness to be helpful, and to encourage more balanced reporting by the non-maritime press. 

It will also be seen that the site contains links to national shipowners' associations.

To assist the promotion of the site, members are encouraged to include links to shippingfacts.com from your own web sites. (The listing of this site by internet search engines - and thus its potential audience outside the industry - is at least in part determined by the number of links it has with other relevant sites.)

A letter from the various maritime organisations is attached for your further information.
